Our Story
Past, Present, and Future
Since it's inception in 1998 Blue Gecko Clothing has in it's own quiet ,unassuming way been a leader in conscious business practices in the American market. We provide trend-setting clothing to generally young clientele at concert venues and events. We develop our own clothing designs and work closely with a women's cooperative in a small village in northern Thailand.The women do the sewing and mostly the men are responsible for the dyeing.Women sew in their homes, and only do as much work a day as they desire. In a unique arrangement it is the coop that sets the prices.As time has progressed everyone is happy and have grown and profited.
The environmental side of the business has always been a important part of the Blue Gecko story and identity. Most of the fabric used in Blue Gecko Clothing is a bamboo-rayon blend, supporting in this way the bamboo industry in Thailand,bamboo being the ultimate renewable forest product.
